A group of UTHM students recently visited Malaysia Airlines Berhad to gain practical insights into the aviation industry, focusing on the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Wheel & Hub Departments. During the tour of the NDT Department, the students were introduced to advanced techniques used to inspect aircraft components without causing damage. They learned about various NDT methods such as ultrasonic testing, radiography, and eddy current testing, which are crucial for ensuring the structural integrity and safety of aircraft parts.
In the Wheel & Hub Department, the students observed the detailed processes involved in the maintenance and refurbishment of aircraft wheels and brakes. Technicians demonstrated the inspection, cleaning, and assembly procedures, highlighting the importance of precision and adherence to safety standards. The visit provided UTHM students with a comprehensive understanding of how these critical departments contribute to the overall safety and efficiency of Malaysia Airlines' fleet operations, enriching their academic knowledge with real-world industry practices.
